    Role of IITs in nation building :

    Indian Institute of Technology – Kharagpur completed 50 years in January 2003.So an initiative called PanIIT was launched in India in 2003 .Each IIT nominated two representatives to be its spokesperson . He was nominated by IIT kharagpur to institutionalise and take forward PanIIT initiative . The first PanIIT event-“ Role of IITs in nation building” was held in Bangalore where over 2500 IITians participated and some of the distinguished IITians viz Manohar parrikar( Current Defense Minister of India ) ,Nandan Nilenkani, Gopal Krishnan , PS Balram , Ashok junjunwala and Jairam Ramesh participated in the deliberations of on Role of IITs in nation building .     Mr. Nirmal Kumar Bhardwaj visits College of Management 23rd March, 2007

          Whole world is one level field, said Mr. Nirmal Kumar Bhardwaj while interacting with the Business students at College of Management, SMVD University. A prodigy of IIT Kharagpur, Mr. Nirmal has worked in various organizations in the corporate world in India and abroad. Sharing his views on modern era he said that it is no longer an era where information was power. Through technology, information is available right at finger tips. He urged the students to apply what they learn. He said that knowledge is not a function of ability to write exams and score marks. It is the ability to understand, assimilate and apply. It is the ability to use hybrid knowledge. He also discussed Emergence of Management as a profession and major accelerators of growth of Indian Economy. He also shared his views on key characteristics of a manager. He asked the students to be fearless, the only key to creativity and learning.
